In loving memory of Mark Hoover 1937-2007.
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Mark Allan Hoover, 69, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 25, 2007, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center due to heart failure.

He was born March 18, 1937, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Harold Isaac and Lena May Katherman Hoover. He spent his younger years in Oklahoma, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, Kansas, and Maryland, before graduating from Dewey High School in 1955 as valedictorian. He attended college at Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater for one year and then graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1960 with a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. While in school he was inducted into Pi Tau Sigma, National Honorary Mechanical Engineering Fraternity. Upon graduation he was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville in their Refining Department and was assigned to the Woods Cross, Utah, refinery.

On December 1, 1962, he married the former Dianne Jo Hotton in Woods Cross, Utah, where they made their home and their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple in 1963. A convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in numerous positions and at the time of his death was an officiator in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple. In 1967 he moved with his family to Idaho Falls and has made that his home ever since. He was employed at the Idaho National Laboratory consecutively by Phillips Petroleum, Idaho Nuclear, Aerojet Nuclear, EG&G, Exxon Nuclear Idaho, Westinghouse Idaho Nuclear and Lockheed Idaho Technology as an engineer until his retirement in 1995. He was a Registered Professional Engineer in Idaho and Ohio and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed being with his family, family history research and loved good music.

Survivors include his wife, Dianne Hoover of the home; six children, Jeffrey (Bonnie) Hoover of Idaho Falls, ID; Tesha (Kendell) Lancaster of Idaho Falls, ID; Jennifer (Bill) Evans of Alta Loma, CA; Tracy (Kenny) Bunnell of Lehi, UT; Travis (Kimberlee) Hoover of Gilbert, AZ; and Jami (Cory) Bench of Lantana, TX; his mother, Mrs. Harold Hoover of Bartlesville, OK; a sister, Rhona Jean (Jimmy) Crocker of Idaho Falls and Sun Lakes, AZ; a brother, Wayne (Rae) Hoover of Richardson, TX; and 23 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2007, at the Idaho Falls LDS Grandview Ward, 1450 Mountain View Lane, with Bishop Grand Leavitt officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
